BIO

Kristina Costello is a Soprano and Music Educator from Long Island, New York. She graduated with her MM from New England Conservatory in 2023 where she studied vocal performance. She received her BFA from Carnegie Mellon University in 2020 where she studied vocal performance and music education. She is a certified music educator in FL, NY, and PA.

Kristina grew up listening to and playing music from an early age. Her passion for music education started with her education in public school. She was encouraged to take private voice lessons and piano lessons in her elementary, middle school, and high school years. She participated in choirs, plays, and music festivals and was the treasurer of her high school's chapter of the Tri-M Music honor society.  As her passion for performing and music grew, she decided to study performance and music education in college and pursue music as a career.

Her interest in music and education did not stop there. In college

Kristina was a proud member of the Pennsylvania Collegiate Music Educators Association and  Sigma Alpha Iota.

In her PMEA experience, she participated in many meetings and events for the music education community.  She helped organize events such as Music a la mode (A performance where music educators can play instruments that aren't their primary instruments.) She was the secretary of her chapter during her senior year and was helping prepare for the yearly PMEA conference. In Sigma Alpha Iota as Vice President of Membership, she used her music education skills to teach incoming sisters about the organization, recruit new members, and host events to raise money for the chapter. She was also the preview party chair of the chapter. She planned pre-philharmonic concert events for the community. At these events, Kristina would educate the public about the pieces in the concert and provide musical performances by members of the CMU community that related to the themes of the concert. In her free time at CMU, she would give private voice lessons to students in the community.

In December 2020, Kristina completed her music education teaching semester receiving her Pennsylvania Teaching certification, while auditioning for graduate schools for voice.

In graduate school at New England Conservatory, she was an active member of the conservatory's SNATS ( Student National Association of Teachers of Singing) chapter as Secretary. She also taught voice for non-voice majors all four semesters she was there while taking some vocal pedagogy classes with renowned voice pedagogue Dr. Ian Howell.

Post-graduate school Kristina teaches up-and-coming musicians in the Florida area and fosters the love of music in them for years to come! She currently has a private voice studio in Martin County, Florida.
